Phew! It’s over.
Behind the cut is 50 screenshots and a whole lot of text. Slow internet connections beware. This took me about 2 hours to do. >_< (more…)
Nagi is forced to go to school, which she apparently neglected for most of the year. Hayate learns from Maria that she attends Hakuou Academy, a school for the rich. Maria also reveals that Nagi left her lunch at home, so Hayate volunteers to deliver it to her. However, he’s stopped by a green-haired girl who refuses to let him through. Eventually, Hayate tricks her into shifting positions with him and uses that opportunity to pass. This was being watched by three girls, Hanabishi Miki (blue hair), Segawa Izumi (purple hair) and Asakaze Risa (black hair.) They seem to have the ability to talk to viewers through the tv screen and are attempting to get out of class, so they ask the green haired girl to let them help catch the intruder. Meanwhile, Hayate looks at a clocktower at the academy, thinking he’d like to go up in it. He’s told by a girl that only student council members can go up in it. He finds out that this girl, Katsura, is stuck in a tree, and she wants Hayate to catch her, somehow knowing that he’s a Sanzenin family butler. However, she winds up just stepping on his head when jumping down. Katsura yells at Hayate, saying that it was dangerous that he didn’t catch her properly. She also explains that she’s scared of heights. Hayate tries to explain to her that it would’ve been easier for him to come up and get her down. Katsura asks if he would’ve come to help her if she called. Hayate questions why she was in the tree in the first place, but she explains that she was trying to save a sparrow whose nest had fallen. Hayate comments that this was very kind of her. The sparrow is then attacked by a crow, so Katsura goes to throw a rock at it. Hayate stops her and scares the crow by throwing the rock between it and the sparrow. (The sparrow is pretty frightened as well.) Katsura is annoyed at Hayate for stopping her, but Hayate explains that she wouldn’t have been as careful, adding to her annoyance. Hayate interrupts, telling her his name and asking hers. Embarrassed, she calms down and tells him. Meanwhile, Maria informs Nagi that Hayate is bringing her lunch. She’s happy, thinking that he’s bringing his love for her with it. Katsura decides to allow Hayate to go up to the tower, revealing that she’s the student council president. The green haired girl also plans to go up there in her attempts to catch Hayate. She sends the other three girls out to search for him as well. In the tower, Hayate is amazed by the view. Katsura explains that it’s meant to let the student council see all the students. Watching the students in their classes, Hayate questions whether she should be in class, but she just tells him to shut up, since she was busy saving “Cha-bou” when classes started. She explains that this is the name of the sparrow, actually a pun on words, since this is an anime. As they prepare to leave so Hayate can give Nagi her bento, Katsura tells Hayate to stop calling her as such, and instead to use her given name, Hinagiku. There’s another Katsura in the school, she states. This turns out to be the green haired girl, her older sister, and when she arrives, Yukiji and Hinagiku get into a sword fight. Eventually, Yukiji steals the bento and stands on a windowsill. A gust of wind blows her off and Hayate saves her. Hinagiku is amazed. Unfortunately, Nagi’s bento didn’t survive the event. However, Nagi saw all of this and is fine with it. She still needs lunch though, so she wants to go get it. Hayate tries to talk her out of going home though, because she needs her education. Meanwhile, Mika, Izumi and Risa enjoy the class time they get to skip.
Yep. Still funny. Very good news for me. The Katsura sisters are crazy characters and will definitely add some flair to this show. Yukiji is a bit on the annoying side though. She’s kinda funny, but she’s way too talkative. She’s going to be a pain and a half to translate. I’m glad I watched this episode fansubbed. Hinagiku is great though. She makes an awesome tsundere, and I already like her better than Nagi. Not to say that Nagi isn’t cuter, but she’s just not as funny. I definitely suspect she’ll become a love interest for Hayate, adding even more to his harem. At least, she seems to have a crush on him, and it’s very cute. I wonder about the roles of the other three girls introduced this week. They didn’t make much of an impression on me, seeming very dull. If they’re developed as individuals rather than a group of three, then I suppose they’ll have potential to be interesting, but for now, they’re kinda bland. I’m not sure if they’ll have a purpose other than comic relief. There’s already plenty of comedy in this show though. I noticed quite a few parodies this week (my personal favorite being the newtype flash) as well as some things that seemed to be parodies, though I have no idea as to what of. Still, it’s a lot of fun to try and spot them. I’m looking forward to episode five and the introduction of more of the cast. Once everyone’s in, maybe there will even be some story developments. I’m not quite sure what those might be though, since the plot is very loose to begin with. At least we have that thing about the evil robots to be explained.

Read my initial summary/impression
Ah, it’s time for episode 28 now. Personally, this episode always amused me, even though the first time I watched it I thought it was boring. Then I realized that rather than being super-annoying, Quint was actually funny. This man is way too obsessed with his boats. Plus, I just might’ve seen slight Buguese/Aqune in this episode, but I read too much into things. At least they interact.
There weren’t really any major differences this week. Fushuwa is now called Fushie. I don’t see why they changed it for the dub, since it’s really not that different. There were also some slight dialogue alterations. Unfortunately, this included my favorite line. Rather than Buguese saying “So glad you could join us for Hunter’s funeral” which I think is an awesome quote, he just says something along the lines of “Hunter Steele is lost at sea.” Yeah, I could list all the minor dialogue changes like that, but they have no effect on the plot, so there’s no point. As for another change, Lumen wasn’t “homesick” but rather, he wanted to see Sparkle. ^_^ Lumen is so funny in this episode. I also found it amusing when Hunter said, after beating the Machine-sector “It’s alright… but, it’s not. The boat was destroyed.” Of course they had to do his constant “Kekka Orai/It’s alright” thing, but this time it came with a twist. <3. next time, more Sparkle cuteness. The preview was mind-numbingly adorable already.

And this should wrap up my weekly stream of SR posts. ^_^;
Excuse me while I go gouge my eyes out. No, I don’t feel like summarizing. I knew this was going to happen, it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as it could’ve been (and I’m grateful for that) but this was the episode that I had been dreading. It just happened later into the series than I would’ve expected. The last episode is going to have to be pretty darned good to save the series for me. Now, I didn’t dislike this episode nearly as much as I disliked 35, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t bad. Maybe there were a few redeeming qualities, such as Quake’s transformation being kinda hot, (and Magma’s reaction to seeing the new Quake) but other than that… eww. Especially the ending…
Edit: Also, I wish the fight would’ve ended this week, because there’s still way too much to be covered. At this rate, they’re going to need a second season. (Oops, forgot to put that part originally)

Now, why don’t I just display some random fanart I did last night so that there’s something of substance in this post. >_< I hate Beerain.

After a bug flies on her popsicle, Ellis accidentally throws it at a police officer. After the officer realizes that there’s a bounty on her head, he puts her in handcuffs, but Nadie shoots them off. Ellis thinks of the portion still attached to her hand as a present. In an attempt to escape both this man and the two cross dressers whom they stole the jeep from, Nadie and Ellis drive away. After it starts to rain, they try to find shelter, but Ellis stops to go in the water, noticing a lizard that might drown. They end up staying in a house in which the only resident is a skeleton. The girls take off their clothes to dry and take advantage of the food and drink left in the house. After noticing a portrait of the dead man’s family, they begin to talk about their own families. Nadie states that she’s happy that they can’t leave anyone behind, because her family is dead. Ellis agrees with her, saying that she’s happy because the professor is dead. Their conversation eventually leads Ellis to asking whether she’s weird. Nadie says she’s not weird, but just isn’t ordinary because of her powers. She advises Ellis to ignore the negative things people say about her. Nadie questions whether she could ever use the power’s Ellis has, but Ellis doesn’t know. Ellis then removes the towel around her and goes to get the stone she was given. She thinks that it will help her find the answers about herself. She sneezes and Nadie warns that she’ll get a cold. Meanwhile, L.A. rides in the trunk of the car that the cross dressers are using to pursue Ellis and Nadie. In another area, Lirio plays in the rain while Ricardo talks to the police officer from earlier, whom he seems to be an acquaintance with. The officer warns Ricardo to quit smoking and asks him if he’s after Ellis. He says he doesn’t know, and leaves with Lirio. Back at the house, Nadie cooks for Ellis, who attempts to open a can. She cuts herself and while studying the blood, nearly goes into some kind of trance, getting flashbacks from her past. Nadie stops her though, licks the blood away, and bandages her. She warns Ellis to be careful, since she’s only human, despite her powers. L.A. cuts a bridge to prevent the cross dressers from getting closer and approaches the house. After eating, Nadie asks Ellis to do her share and clean up, but their distracted when they hear someone. Nadie decides to investigate, but L.A. reveals himself and knocks her out. He goes to Ellis, telling her that he’s always watching her and that someday, he’ll become precious to her. Ellis disagrees with this. When Nadie wakes up, Ellis tells her that the man is gone and that he just told her he’s always watching her. Rosenburg is monitoring L.A. He thinks to himself that L.A. shouldn’t act on his own, because he wants to be able to trust him. After all, he’s the one L.A. opened his heart to. Before leaving, L.A. also knocks out the cross dressers so that Ellis will be able to get some sleep. The next morning, Ellis asks whether she can keep the lizard, but Nadie says no, so she lets it go. She also leaves her handcuff with the skeleton. They continue heading south, while L.A. spies on them.
Woah! I really enjoyed this episode. I’m officially fascinated with L.A. He was just so scary in this episode (but at the same time, positively hot). This makes him a really cool stalker. And I’m getting really bad ideas of shipping him with Ellis, which I think are too scary to get into, so perhaps I should forget about it. Ellis also made a really good impression on me this week. While her character was somewhat interesting when she was just being all mysterious, now her cute side was shown. She’s amazingly innocent and it’s just adorable to watch. It’s too bad she didn’t get to keep the lizard, because it was so cute to see her interact with it. Okay, enough pointing out Ellis’ cuteness. I still have a thing for Ricardo and Lirio, for some reason. Although they’ve only made brief appearances so far, there’s something really interesting about them and I can tell that once they get involved with the main plotline, they’re going to play some kind of significant role. I just hope this occurs soon. Because this is a semi-slow paced show, it’s clear that the characters themselves are what makes it interesting. Although the plot is something I’ve already seen done at least twice before, I’m finding myself getting very attached to the characters. I hope they’ll remain as enticing so I can stay interested.

Honestly I had low expectations for this movie, but I don’t know why. The series was a lot of fun and the movie turned out to be like that as well. I’m going to assume this takes place some time during the Mizushitatare or Kintoresky arcs, based on the fact that Mai and Saki have their 2nd transformation, but Michiru and Kaoru aren’t back yet. The movie was rather short and the plot was simple. Basically, Mai and Saki were going to be in this karaoke and dance show, but an agent of Dark Fall interferes by freezing time, and so the Pretty Cure has to save the Land of Time. However, Mai and Saki keep getting into fights and this eventually leads them to split up. However, they both realize how much they need each other and so they’re able to find each other again and defeat the guy from Dark Fall. Honestly I didn’t catch his name, but it was probably something weird like most of them have. He was pretty cool though, especially in his 2nd form, where he looked like a bull. I really like how he could suck people into his suitcase, where he had a labyrinth and a huge desert inside. It was also kinda cool that they got out by opening the door on the Uzainaa. The visuals in general were highly impressive. It’s obvious that Toei gave this a pretty good budget. There was even a new transformation scene, as opposed to the stock one we have to see all the time. It was really cool looking. Really, my only disappointment with the movie was that Akudaikaan-sama wasn’t in it. I miss him. In fact, I really miss this series, so it felt great to get to watch it again. I hope there will be a second movie in the future (if not a 2nd season), but I wouldn’t count on it.
And best of all, Minori-chan cameo!

While playing video games with Nagi, Hayate comments about his excitement of living in such a large house with a beautiful girl. When he specifies that this girl is Maria though, Nagi gets mad and beats him in the game. She also threatens him not to touch Maria. The next day, Hayate goes to wake up Nagi and discovers that there’s a tiger on her bed. He’s very freaked out over this, but Nagi doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with it, saying that she always sleeps with Tama. Krause, the main Butler, was underneath the bed. According to him, if Nagi wants to think of Tama as a simple house cat, then that’s just what he is. However, Hayate is right in thinking that it’s dangerous. Apparently, Tama only listens to Nagi and Maria, but he’s attacked Krause before. Now, he does this again. Then Tama goes after Hayate, but Nagi stops him, saying that he shouldn’t play rough in the house. Instead, they go to the garden, and start to fight. Krause thinks that if Hayate can’t defeat Tama then the should lose his position. Nagi agrees to this. It doesn’t matter though, because Mari soon shows up and is angry to see the damage to her garden. She assumes that Krause and Nagi were responsible and sends them away, so she can take care of Hayate’s wounds. Maria explains to Hayate that Nagi found Tama while in Africa and took him home. She also spoiled him, so now he can’t live anywhere else. However, his life changed after meeting Nagi, as did Hayate’s. Hayate agrees that he has a lot in common with Tama, but the tiger tells him that they’re not in the same league, because Hayate is poor. He also warns not to tell anyone that he can talk. Later, Krause and Nagi argue over the use of Hayate. Krause wants to get rid of him, but according to Nagi, Hayate is powerful and can transform himself. Hayate denies this though. Krause plans to give Hayate another test, and Nagi is very confident that Hayate will protect her. After speaking with Maria again, Hayate learns that Nagi often isn’t expressive, and this was especially true when her mother died. However, she became much more cheerful after Hayate saved her. Soon, Hayate is given his test. He must fight KaigoRobo8, a butler robot. Nagi insults the robot, which attacks her, but Hayate saves her. Using silverware and a wire, he manages to defeat KaigoRobo8, but is electrocuted in the process. Krause has to pass him though. When Hayate wakes up, he apologizes for the damage he caused. Nagi tells him that rooms can be replaced, but he can’t. Time skips to a battle against another robot.
Very interesting. This show is so on crack, but it serves it’s purpose in entertaining me with it’s mindlessness. Tama is such an awesome character. I didn’t expect him to be able to talk. He’s also so cute. The funniest part this week was seeing Hayate’s reaction to finding Tama in Nagi’s bed. Yeah, he’s right in thinking that’s freaky. Tama isn’t really dangerous though, because he actually has a personality of his own. He just seems to only like women. Or maybe, he just has a grudge against butlers. Krause is fairly annoying so far, but there’s something about him a like. I could see his annoying side over-ruling that in the future though. I wonder if maybe he’s a villain or something, because it seems that other robots are attacking Nagi and Hayate in their future. I don’t know if he was the one who sent them out though. He definitely doesn’t like Hayate for some reason though, so I suspect he’ll still try to continue to get rid of him. Next week, a new girl gets introduced. I wonder if this is going to turn into a harem.

The Spider Riders worry about Buguese, but Quake warns them that ther’es no time to grieve and so they head to the citadel. Meanwhile, it’s revealed that Buguese did survive the explosion, and that he caused serious damage to Mantid’s fortress. He wonders why Mantid kept him alive and asks once again for Manitd to restore the sun. Mantid refuses, and explains that he plans to destroy the Inner World for revenge, because the Oracle took the thing he loved most away from him. Buguese tries to fight him, but is quickly defeated and blasted away. Afterwards, Mantid warns his remaining soldiers that Buguese has betrayed them because of the Spider Riders. He secretly mocks them though, for remaining loyal to him because of their desperation. The Spider Riders travel through an underground cave that Grasshop knew about to avoid battle. Unfortunately for them, there’s a terrible stench in the cave. That becomes the least of their problems though when they’re stopped by an Invectid captain, who was ordered to stop them. However, the captain respects Grasshop and makes an excuse to let them through, Once inside, Grasshop hopes to return to his family and Sparkle offers to go with him. Lumen decides to come as well, to assure their safety. As the others continue, they’re stopped by more soldiers. Quake stops them temporarily with his sword of surrender. Magma and Igneous stay behind to continue fighting. Meanwhile, Grasshop’s kids are becoming very afraid. His wife assures them that Grasshop will come to save them if they believe he will. She herself is surprised though when Grasshop really does show up. The family is happy to be reunited. Meanwhile, Buguese thinks to himself that he doesn’t deserve to live, because of all the terrible things he did to the people he cares about. He gains a small bit of hope though after finding Mantid’s Oracle Keys, which still have a faint light. Back at the citadel, Mantid reveals to the Spider Riders that he’s really a human from the Outer World. He was once a Spider Rider, but came to hate the Oracle after the woman he loved was killed due to all the fighting. Hunter transforms to fight Mantid, but then the Oracle’s light is seen. Everyone becomes hopeful, until Mantid reveals that the light is his now. A ship appears, which he calls the Arc of Destiny.
Sorry for the lateness. I’ve been working on an AMV, and it took me 5 ½ hours. ^_^; In any case, this was better than I expected. What I expected, however, is something I will not be discussing, as it involves a certain female Invectid whom I dislike. I do expect this event will happen soon though, which makes me want to throw up but I’ll survive I guess. In any case, there was a super-tiny bit of Buguese/Aqune in this episode, which is awesome always. Mantid was the most interesting this week though, revealing what I already assumed due to the spoilers, but is still quite a revelation. Mantid is from Earth. What I didn’t know though is that he was once a Spider Rider. Very interesting. I almost feel bad for him. Now we also know more details about Loraine, the corpse in his closet. What I don’t like though is that they now have the potential to play Mantid out as a victim. I hope they don’t go that route, because he’s a very cool villain. It’s nice when villains have noble pasts, but I personally think Mantid went too far, claiming revenge on an entire world because of one death. Hopefully he’ll be defeated in the end, rather than redeemed. Hopefully the next episode won’t make me want to stab my eyes out, but I’ll be watching anyway.

OP and ED screencaps
“Kekka orai!”
I missed the Japanese version oh-so-very-much. Aside from the name differences, such as Slate being called Grey, I didn’t notice many major differences in this episode between the two versions. Igneous’s fan club refer to him as “Ignus-sama.” XD Then there was a change in which Grasshop goes to check on his family after he’s kicked off the big four (and I forgot how heart wrenching this was to watch. Poor Grasshop.) He still misinterprets the fact that one of the Insector captains is at his house as the possibility that maybe his wife is cheating on him, but in the Japanese version, they’re actually seen hugging. Of course, there’s nothing going on between them, but I can see how in the dub, they wouldn’t want to take the cheating things too far.
Comparison shots (Japanese seen first, then English):
And here’s a rough translation of a Hunter/Corona line for you (it’s not that different from the line in the dub) but since it’s such a popular pairing, I provide you with more fodder.
Corona: Spirit Oracle, I’m also going to go to Nuuma kingdom. I may still feel a little afraid, but if I’m together with Hunter I know it will be alright.

EDIT: BETTER CAPS!
While I’ve practically deconstructed the entire OP and ED, I have to call this a teaser, becaus the images are juts a horrendous quality. I haven’t found the raw for episode 27 yet, but I did find some low quality clips that I have cropped up for you all. ^_^
Guess what Hunter/Corona fans? They hold hands on the OP. There also seems to be soem spoilers in the OP, such as Hunter and Shadow’s four key transformation and a scene of young Quake (whom I assume I can safely call Brade now, since this is the Japanese version) fighting.
The ED has Magma x Brade <3!
Cut for length.
