Let’s briefly ignore the fact that I’m behind on most of my Spring 07 shows (minus Sola and Spider Riders ~Yomigaeru Taiyou~.) I’m working on catching up. Today I watched some Lucky Star and El Cazador de la Bruja.
LA’s evil grin is love.
And now, it’s time for the point. Initially, I was very unimpressed by the upcoming season, but it might not be too bad.
Very Interested
7/3- Doujin Work- Makes me think of Comic Party, which I like.
7/3- Zombie Loan- It’s by the people who worked on Rozen Maiden, seems to have elements of Death Note, and features a Viro look-alike (from Erementar Gerad). Three reasons to check it out.
7/5- Mushi-Uta- I have no idea why, but I’m strangely intrigued by this.
7/8- Moetan- Cute and Engrish. Okay.
Somewhat Interested
6/24- Tetsuko no Tabi- It looks like it could be utter crack. That makes it at least worth checking out.
7/2- Nanatsuiro Drops- It has potential, but I’m still skeptical about the plot. At least I like the character designs.
As usual, no judgments will be made until I actually see the shows and anything has a chance of being watched.
Proof that I don’t update nearly enough anymore is the fact that I no longer feel guilty about combining entries.
Sola 11
Sola this week was amazing as usual. Each week it throws in something to surprise me. This time, Yorito, Matsuri and Aono are erased from existance. I feel terible for Koyori and especially for Mana. I could tell there would be tragedy for her when she was talking to her firend who had forgotten that Yorito even existed. The scene in which she told Yorito how she’d never forget him was touching. Then he disappeared and she was left to cry, but didn’t even know what she was crying about and why her tears wouldn’t stop. Now Sola is both shocking and heart wrenching. I probably give this sereis too much praise for what it is, but it’s been a while since I’ve been so excited by a series (Spider Riders excluded, because that was a long running series and I had time to become obsessed.) Anyway, my favorite part was still when Mayuko got Takeshi to hold her hand, then told him he sucked. She’s such a sweet girl. ^_-
Spider Riders ~Yomigaeru Taiyou~ 10 (36)
I actually had to go check my impressions on the English version to see which screenshots I initially used, so I didn’t repeat by accident. ^_^; I wanted to find at least one in which Igneous looked totally ridiculous, as the main point of this episode is to have him make a total fool of himself. Well, not really. It’s actually about the arrival in Nuuma, but that’s got to be the funniest part. I wonder if he’ll still recite poetry about Illuma, but we won’t get to see that for a few more weeks. In any case, his love won’t rhyme with Nuuma anymore, due to this week’s alterations. Most minor characters have gone through name changes for the dub, and apparently Solan and Illuma were minor enough. Originally, they were called Toure and Elma. Well, whatever their names are, I still ship them, solely for the point that their romance makes Igneous look even more ridiculous. No offense to him…
Actually though, they were pretty cute together.

So Yorito is actually dead, and the character we’ve seen all through this series is a paper re-creation by Aono? Wow! I must add this to the list of reasons this show is awesome. I knew Yorito wasn’t human, but I didn’t expect this. Best of all, there was still adorable Takeshi/Mayuko. I’m glad they weren’t put to the side, now that their story ended. It’s also cool that Takeshi is going to help Matsuri now. It looks like he’s showing her how to use his anti-yaka sword. So, does that mean Matsuri plans to use it against Aono? Why does only one episode of this show air a week? I’ve also been thinking that I’m going to be very unhappy if the DVD only episodes are essential to concluding the plot, because then I’d have to wait even longer to see how things work out.

Don’t ask what the deal with the formatting of this post is. I’m totally bored right now and writing about a series I’ve already um… written about (albeit a different language version.)

ZOMG! It’s Buguese/Corona. ^_- If Hunter/Aqune ever became canon (and don’t worry, I don’t expect it to happen), I’d totally ship this.

Everyone has ganged up on Buguese and Aqune. Therefore, they are mean.
Well anyway, that was a bit different from the dubbed version, and Hunter/Corona fans should be pleased by it, because there was less Hunter/Aqune in it. The part where Hunter and Aqune were making promises to eachother wasn’t there.
Also, Aqune was less reluctant to return to the Insectors than in the English version. Buguese asked for not only the keys in exhange for Corona, but Aqune too. (Is that really a fair trade?) Aqune actually asks Hunter for the keys and goes to him (thus recieving her ever-scary 2nd mask.)

Oh, and new footage of Loraine.

And here’s some Hunter/Corona, for all the people I’ve scared. And TL-chan does not care that she linked to this Buguese/Aqune shot in her original post, as it didn’t become any less cute (and now there’s no Teletoon logo :P)
I’m not touching next week’s episode with a 10,000-foot-pole. Thank you and have a nice day.
Although Matsuri is prepared to die, Aono spares her life due to the fact that Matsuri once saved her. After the fight, Mayuko returns, questioning who Aono is. While Takeshi continues his search for Mayuko, he meets up with Sae by chance, who offers him an umbrella. He denies and starts to walk away, until Sae mentions that she’s seen his “daughter.” Takeshi immediately wants to know where. Mayuko continues hiding with Matsuri on the bus, until Matsuri spots Yorito. Not wanting to see him, she decides to leave. Yorito starts to have another breakdown, but Mana finds him and takes him back home. She also notices origami paper. When Aono calls her, Mana tries to hide the fact that Yorito is at her house. Mayuko buys some food for Matsuri, while they wait for a bus. One finally arrives, and Mayuko gets on, only to notice that Takeshi is coming. Takeshi only finds Matsuri, and is prepared to kill her. Aono goes over to Mana’s house herself. She calls Mana a liar and tries to get in to see Yorito, but is refused entry. She stays out in the rain, crying. Meanwhile, Takeshi fights Matsuri, in order to keep a promise. He remembers a time in his past, when he was with his friend Mayuko. It was almost her birthday and he wanted to get her a present. She asked for a new stuffed rabbit. Takeshi gets one, but when he returns, he finds that she was murdered. He leaves in agony, but later meets with Mayuko again. She explains to him that she’s not human anymore, but a yaka. Being in the sun causes her to burn up. Takeshi promises to make her a human again. In the present, he fights harder against Matsuri, needing her dead to fulfill his promise. However, Mayuko appears, preventing him from making the killing blow. He wants to know why she did this, because he wanted to fulfill his promise, but Mayuko explains to him that he already did. He had also promised to stay by her side, and he did this. She remembers all the time they spent together. In the meantime, Yorito, seemingly in better condition, stares out the window.
And so, this episode motivated me to actually write a real post again. It was completely worth the wait, and I waited for it very impatiently since the last cliffhanger. I’m so happy with the way Takeshi and Mayuko’s story works out. I thought they made an adorable pair and so I’m glad that they can be happy… for now at least. With the way this show is, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if one or both of them died by the end. For now, I got a truckload of cute moments between them, so I won’t mind if that happens. I wonder if this means that Takeshi is going to stop trying to kill Matsuri. Since Mayuko and Matsuri are friends now, maybe he’ll even help her. That could be an interesting twist. I wonder who the villain is now, if there even is one. Aono doesn’t seem to want to kill Matsuri anymore. While I had mixed feelings about her last week, mostly negative, I felt really bad for her in this episode. I hope she’ll at least get to be somewhat happy in the end, even though I suspect Yorito and Matsuri will somehow get together. There’s still a bit left to be resolved, and some mystery to be explained (such as why the yaka tend to enter these psycho modes) so I’ll be waiting excitedly for the next episode.
